St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College is a Religious Minority Educational institution within the meaning of Article 30 of the Constitution of India. The College began its journey in 1865, under the auspices of the Church Missionary Society (CMS). The Diocese of Calcutta, under the Church of North India, took over the responsibility of the College when the CMS was withdrawn in 1947. The College shifted to its present address in July, 1908 and got its affiliation from the University of Calcutta in 1914. Since its inception, this College has believed in promoting academic merit and admission is open to all irrespective of caste, creed and nationality.

The College not only promotes academic excellence but also encourages healthy and cordial relationship among its stakeholders. It has a very old and rich Central Library that is being upgraded according to present day needs. All the departments are well-equipped with modern computer facilities along with wi-fi connectivity inside the campus. In spite of being situated at the heart of the city of Kolkata, the college has a splendid eco-friendly campus with a lot of greenery inside the campus. It has a beautiful playground where different sports events are held. It also has a fourteen-point gymnasium and a badminton court for the students. The college encourages students to participate in different extra-curricular activities organized throughout the year for their holistic development. True to its missionary culture, the College has a social outreach unit named ‘Roddur’ that imparts basic education to the underprivileged street children living in the neighbouring areas. Both teachers and students of the College are part of this noble venture.

With the introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP) that has brought in new vision in the education sector, this heritage institute is trying it’s best to adapt to the needs of the time and face the challenges of imparting quality education to the students. The College is making efforts to introduce new add-on courses on emerging areas and enter into collaborative ventures with other institutions and industry. It has also participated for the first time in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the academic year 2023-24. It is making efforts to set up rainwater harvesting facility inside the campus and take more green initiatives that include installation of solar panels. The College has successfully completed three cycles of NAAC accreditation and is presently preparing for the fourth cycle. Keeping the motto of St. Paul “I press toward the mark” in mind, I strongly believe that, by the grace of God, St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College will surely make a mark in the field of education in the near future.
