The college

Year	Significance
2014-15	Sesquicentenary celebrations (150 years) throughout the year in the form of both academic and cultural events. The celebrations were inaugurated by the then Governor of West Bengal, His Excellency Shri M.K. Narayanan, in the presence of the Higher Education Minister, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calcutta and the Rt. Revd. Bishop of Kolkata. The celebrations came to an end by the august and memorable presence of His Excellency the late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, ex-President of India, in January 2015.
2013	Introduction of post graduate (M.A) course in ‘Literature in English’, affiliated to the University of Calcutta.
2005 and 2011	Visits of the UGC NAAC peer team to the college and the college being rated B for its performance.
2009-10	Introduction of Honours Course in Hindi.
2003-04	The university authorities permitted to open up Honours courses in Political Science, Philosophy and Microbiology. Physiology, Microbiology, Zoology and Sociology were introduced in the same academic session.
2003-04	Statistics as a General subject was introduced.
1961	His Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury and Mrs. Ramsay came to visit the College.
1957	Affiliation to teach Honours Courses in Physics and Chemistry received.
1953	Affiliation to teach Bachelor of Science Courses in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics received. Also received affiliation to teach Honours Course in Mathematics.

1947	The responsibility of the college was taken over by the ‘Diocese of Calcutta’ of the Church of India, Burma, Pakistan and Ceylon as the Church Missionary Society (CMS) withdrew.
1938	Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose came to visit the college.
1929	Affiliation to teach Honours Course in Economics received.
1921	The teaching of Pure Science began at the Intermediate Standard (IA).
1917	The college received similar affiliation to teach History and Philosophy Honours Courses.
1916	Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi came as guests to the college.
1915	Rabindranath Tagore came as guest to the college.
1915	The college got affiliation from the University of Calcutta to teach B.A. Honours Course in English.
1914	The college was re-named as St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College.
1908	The college moved from Sookeas Street to 12 Old College Square (now Surya Sen Street) and finally to the present site (33/1 Raja Rammohan Roy Sarani) in July 1908.

1865	The College received affiliation from the University of Calcutta and began its odyssey with 193 students and 6 teachers.
1865	The college was founded on 25th January at the premises of 25 Sookeas Street (now Kailas Bose Street) under the aegis of the Church Missionary Society (CMS), in a rented house. It was then known as The Cathedral Mission College.
